IBF intends to bring together professionals, entrepreneurs and businessmen from India or who are of Indian origin in the German States of Hesse, North Rhine West phalia, Rhineland Palatinate and Saarland. The objectives of the IBF are as follows:

» Offer business opportunities by circulating business enquiries which the Consulate receives from India and Germany
» Enlarge the outreach programme to connect with Indians and People of Indian origin in Germany
» Facilitate interaction with Chambers of Commerce in Germany and also provide a forum for interaction with business and political figures in Germany
» Take up issues affecting Indian professionals/companies in Germany
» Facilitate trade and investment between India and Germany
India and Germany have a strategic partnership since 2001, which sets out potential areas for intensifying bilateral cooperation, among others, in the business and energy sectors as well as in science, technology, agriculture and defense. This partnership has been further strengthened with the second Inter-Governmental Consultations (IGC) held in Berlin in April 2013. Germany is India’s largest trading partner in Europe. Germany has consistently been among India’s top ten global trade partners and was the 5th largest trading partner in FY 2012-13 at Euro 17 bn. It is presently the 4th largest foreign direct investor in India. It is the second largest partner for technological collaborations. Indian investments in Germany have also shown a remarkable increase in the last few years. Indian corporate entities have invested over US $ 6 bn. in Germany, mainly through Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A). There are more than 215 Indian companies operating in Germany. It is against this background that a need was felt to create a platform to maximize the economic potential between the two countries.
