IMPORTANT INFORMATION

The Consulate General of India (CGI), Frankfurt announces that with effect from August 1, 2007 the entire visa services  has been outsourced   to its sole authorised outsourcing agency Indo-German Consultancy services (IGCS). CGI Frankfurt will accept applications at the CGI counter only for Passport/PIO Card/ OCI card /attestations from individuals who apply in person. However, one can submit application for consular service at the CGI counter on behalf of members of his/her family. All other applicants seeking Consular services in any form postal or otherwise should approach our sole authorised outsourcing agency Indo-German Consultancy Services (IGCS),  Friedrich-Ebert-Anlage 3, Ground  Floor, 60327 Frankfurt am Main, Tel. How to apply?
Requirements  
  • Passport (It should be valid for at least 6 (six) months)
  • Application form dully filled in
  • 2 (Two) Photographs
  • Supporting documents (this is necessary except for Tourist visas).
Instructions for filling the application form

 

  • Entries should be in capital letters and legible
  • All columns of the application form should be filled
  • Duration and purpose of visit should be clearly stated
  • Visa fee is to be paid separately for each child entered in the parent's passport.
Visa Processing duration
 
1. For German Passport Holders of  German Origin:
  • Visa shall be processed on the same day  and shall be delivered in the evening if all the documents are in order.
2. German Passport Holders of  other Origin:
  • Visa shall be processed only after getting clearance from the respective Indian Missions.
3. Other than German Passport Holders:
  • Cases of non-German Passport holders, if not staying in Germany for more than 1 year shall be referred to the respective Indian Missions for clearance. The clearance normally takes 72 working hours.
  • Those  living in Germany for 1 or more years, are required to attach  proof of their stay  like registration certificate. Their applications will be processed as in the case of German Passport Holders of German Origin.

Tourist Visa

Persons wishing to visit India as tourists, or for meeting friends and relatives, will be granted six months tourist visas. Tourist visas are non-extendable and non-convertible. Please check FAQs Relating Tourist Visa

Business Visa

Visitors travelling to India on business can obtain business visas valid for up to 6 months. Longer term business visas, valid for up to 5 years with multiple entries, can also be granted to frequent travellers and technicians / experts going to India, in pursuance of bilateral agreements or joint-venture projects having the approval of the Government of India.

Business visa applicants should enclose copies of documents from their head office giving details about the purpose of their visit to India. A specific letter of invitation by the firm or organization in India will help speeding up the processing of the application . Please check FAQs Relating Work/Business Visa

  

Student Visa

Student visas can be obtained on furnishing proof of admission to recognized universities / institutions in India. Student visas are valid for 5 years or the duration of the course of study (whichever is less). 

 

Transit Visa

Transit visas can be obtained for halts in India en route to other destinations. Normal duration of stay in India: maximum 72 hours. Transit visas should be obtained from the embassy or a consulate before departure since they are not available at airports in India.

 

Entry Visa/Miscellaneous Visa

Entry visa will be granted, on a case to case basis, depending upon purpose of visit etc.

 

 

Employment Visa

Employment visas can be obtained on furnishing proof of employment with companies in India.

 

 
Journalist Visa (J-Visa)
 

Journalists can obtain single entry visas valid for three months by producing documentary proof i.e. an employment card or original letter from a reputed news / media agency where they are working or by the office which has given them the assignment in India.

The initial three-month-period can be extended by applying to: Publicity Officer, XP Division, Ministry of External Affairs, Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi-110001 (e-mail usxps@meadev.gov.in, phone +91 11 23383462, fax +91 11 23387075).

Journalists travelling to India to work in any branch office of foreign media / TV can obtain an entry J-Visas directly on application to the Embassy, on production of the letter of appointment by the foreign media / TV office. This is applicable also to journalists replacing correspondents in India.

NOTE: (In cases of emergency, express visa  may be given in about 2 hours on  payment of urgent fee of EURO 20 per application.)

List of  documents to be attached with the application for a journalist visa are:

  1. Application Form for Visa
  2. Application Form for filming documentaries in India along with undertaking.
  3. Application for filming at protected monuments
  4. List of team members along with their names, nationalities, dates of birth, passportnumbers, place and date of issue, validity of their passports, occupation etc.
  5. List of cinematic equipments with descriptions and brand names
  6. Synopsis of the proposed film project.
  7. Filming programme stage by stage and date by date.
  8. Letter from the producer specifying the hospitality required.
  9. Publicity Returns: TV Channel where the documentary will be screened (details of  date/time/duration etc.)
(NOTE: Application Forms, Undertaking and information sheets should be signed by the Producer and submitted in nine sets. It may be noted that the minimum processing time for visa in such cases is 4-5 weeks.)
  
Registration Formalities:
  1. All foreign nationals, including those of Indian origin, who intend to stay for more than six months have to register with the concerned District Foreigners Registration Officer/ Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO) in the first 14 days of their arrival in India.
  2. Pakistani nationals should register with the concerned FRRO within 24 hours of their arrival in India.
  3. Afghan nationals should register with the concerned FRRO within 7 days of their arrival in India.
